Migration and its social construction in approaches of political parties in the Chamber of Deputies in the Czech Republic

Migration is a phenomenon which has strong impact on the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic is currently under transformation from transit country to immigration country. At the present time the situation is even more complicated because of the migrant crises which impact all of us. I suppose that the Members of Parliament will create social constructions or narratives about migrants during the sitting of parliament. I aim to identify social constructions of migrants that are created by the Czech political parties represented in the Chamber of Deputies since the 2013 election. I will divide social construction into two main groups. Ones belong to migrants and the other ones to refugees. I would like to find out if there are more positive or negative social constructions and how are benefits and punishments distributed to these groups. I would like to discover key narratives of particular political negotiation as well. Theoretical background of this thesis is the social construction of target population theory of Anne Schneider and Helen Ingram. In the manner of Lina Newton's article "It is not a question of being anti-immigrant: Categories of deservedness in immigration policy making", I will use a combination of discursive and narrative analysis as the main method. People with mental disorders and their access to the labour market

Group of people with mental illness is a very diverse group. Due to its diagnosis they have to face prejudices and stigmatization, which influences all levels of their lives - even the working one. This diploma thesis People with mental disorders and their access to the labour market examines the position of persons with mental disorders on the labor market. It is based on the premise that employment is an important element for every person, as it provides an income and, above all, represents belonging to the majority society. In this work I introduce the setting of Czech legislation and public policy documents, I realize my own quantitative (using content analysis of media outputs) and qualitative (using semi-structured expert interviews) research and based on that I classify people with mental illness into the relevant target population according to the Theory of social construction of target populations (according to Schneider and Ingram). I choose this procedure of combined (= mixed) research to collect a sufficient amount of data. This theory says how benefits or burdens are allocated in society. Social construction of temporary foster parents in the Czech print media

The bachelor thesis "Social construction of temporary foster parents in the Czech print media" focuses on how temporary foster parents are constructed in Czech printed media. After the amendment of Act No. 359/1999 Coll. on the socio-legal protection of children in 2013 there was a development of temporary foster care and foster parents were mentioned in the Czech media. However, it is not clear how foster parents sound in them. The message of foster parents in the media is important because the media influence society, but also political decision- making, and the political measures taken are often related to how society perceives the issue. The theory of social construction of target populations and methodological approach of qualitative content analysis with quantitative elements is used in the work to find out the message of foster parents in the media. The aim of this work was to find out the social construction of temporary foster parents and its change in a given time period. Another goal of the work was to include foster parents in the typology of target populations and to explain the manifestation of social construction on the distribution of benefits and burdens for temporary foster parents. Universities' approach to educationally disadvantaged students

The diploma thesis deals with educationally disadvantaged student at public universities in Czechia. Thesis presumes the existence of educational inequality in Czech educational system and the effect of disadvantages based on attained education level of student's parents. These inequalities hadn't significantly changed even after the massification of tertiary education sector. The population of educationally disadvantaged in the thesis is equivalent to first generation student population, meaning the families with unattained tertiary education level. The main objective is to find out designs of policies targeting this group and to explore perception of the population. To achieve the goal, the thesis is using social construction of target framework. In this way, designs of applied policies are analyzed and the social construction of the target population is defined. The thesis uses qualitative research methods, using thematic document analysis of annual reports and long-term plans of all public universities and then uses the academic senate reports and semi-structured interviews with universities' representatives with selection of cases regarding the first analysis findings.
